Maria Samaia is a filmmaker from São Paulo, Brazil. With a B.F.A. in Film & Television from the Savannah College of Art and Design, one of the top art universities in the country, she merges her technical knowledge and love for the arts to create beautiful visual narrative works.
Ever since her teenage years, she has worked on her creative career, exploring different paths, such as photography, creative writing, illustration, animation, all of which enhanced her skills as a filmmaker.
In university, Maria discovered that her background in theater could be transferred into costume design, her passion for hair and makeup artistry could be used to enhance performances, and her illustration experience would transfer into beautiful composition work on camera. She uses her skills in those areas as tools that make her movies art pieces that show its stories visually.
She looks forward to sharing her passion for production, direction and costume design as she enters the film and television industry.
